What is a Mental health and exercise coaching festival ?
On Saturday the 26th of April 2025 I ran my second 'MHEC-FEST'. This is an event that runs for 3 hours teaching participants about how exercise improves mental health and breaking down the barriers to allow people to feel good about exercise and focus more on how it feels rather than exercising just to change our body image. The event is focused around a short exercise class without judgement or expectation and helps participants to achieve confidence, self worth and courage etc. from exercise.
It is also an event that shows us how we can also increase confidence etc. into other areas of our life, from occupational health to environmental health. There is so much more to our health, it's not just physical!
What happened during the event?
During the event we had lots of shares, interactive activities and ways for everyone to connect and talk about their personal mental health and physical health journeys. This brings everyone together and helps us all to realise how many people really do feel the same way when it comes to exercise and mental health. It was great to see and hear about peoples journeys and the positive effects that this event has had on their mindset around exercise and, how they feel about themselves.
The next steps for MHEC and JP-PT
After the class lots of participants had so much positive feedback and I really felt like This is making a difference and this is why we do what we do!
I know these events need to happen more often so going forward, I would like to arrange a similar event 4 or 5 times throughout the year to bring people together and bring awareness to what 'mental health and exercise coaching' is and how Exercise can manage and prevent poor mental health and mental illness'.
The truth is 'MHEC' is going to change the fitness industry in such a positive way and create another way to help people with an all rounded approach to health, from body to mind!
